Us...

I've been meaning to write this post for ages, but as you can tell my blogging has been a little infrequent. Anyway, a bit about myself and EA:

What are your middle names? Mine is Maree, his is James.

How long have you been together? 2.5 years, engaged for about 7 months. I know, not that long, but we're mature enough to do the commitment thing by now...

How long did you know each other before you started dating? A couple of weeks, from memory.

Who asked whom out? He did, though I would have if he didn't...

How old are each of you? I am 26, he is 28.

Whose siblings do you see the most? I have a sister and he has a brother (perfect for the bridal party!) but we see more of my little sister.

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple? Hmm, that's a tough one because we don't really have any gigantic hardships. Hang on, I'll ask him... Ha! He said that we don't really have a single biggest one - joking, of course... OK, his 3 ideas:

1. I am constantly wearing his shirts (they're comfy, OK? I will not apologise);
2. We have a one car driveway so always have to wake each other up so we can let each other's cars out; and
3. Balancing the time we spend with our parents (my dad, his dad and stepmum, his mum)

As you can see, they're not big deals at all. My biggest issue is the frustration that we can't afford to pay for our wedding and a house deposit at the same time, and I just want to do it all RIGHT NOW (I have no patience). EA isn't as concerned as I am, though, he's happy just floating along doing wedding stuff, and well look at buying a house after we're married.

Did you go to the same school? No - EA was two years ahead of me and went to a private boys' school in Toowoomba. I went to a state school in Kingaroy. I used to go to Toowoomba with my dad and sister to get Subway when I was younger (before Kingaroy even had traffic lights). Who knows, maybe we walked past each other...

Are you from the same home town? See answer above. My home town is 1hr 40mins from his.

Who is smarter? "Intelligence, or common sense?" he asks. Ha! Book smarts, it's probably me, from marks at school and the fact that I went to uni. As far as common sense goes though, it would definitely be him. He's really sensible, responsible, up to date with current affairs, etc.

Who is the most sensitive? That would be me. Depends on the meaning of sensitive, though. I really do think that he is sensitive to my feelings, etc.

Where do you eat out most as a couple? We really try to mix it up. We used to eat out a few nights a week, but we've really reigned that in over the last couple of months. There isn't really one place in particular. Edge Modern Dining is a fantastic restaurant in our area, the best in north-west Brisbane if you ask me.

Where is the furthest you two have travelled together as a couple? Sydney in February last year. EA went to Top Gear Live and then we spent the weekend at the zoo and seeing the sights. We'd both been to Sydney a few times before, but we hadn't done it together. Had the most amazing meal of our lives at Astral Restaurant. Holy cow, the mashed potato was like nothing I've ever tasted.

Who has the craziest exes? Me. By far, me. I only keep in touch with two of them, and there are very good reasons why I don't keep in touch with the other couple.

Who has the worst temper? EA thinks it's him because he can get really grumpy, but when I lose my temper I'm a self-confessed nightmare. I don't wish myself on anyone when I get in one of my moods...

Who does the cooking? We share it - I've been doing a bit more lately, but generally we'll each help prepare different parts of the dish.

Who is the neat freak? EA, for sure. I'm messy at home. It's the reverse at work though. My desk is pristine, whereas in his office there is stuff everywhere. Along with about 38,482 computer monitors.

Who is more stubborn? Me. I like to get my own way. That makes me feel really bad, actually - must work on that.

Who hogs the bed? Neither of us really hogs the bed. The real question is, who hogs the doona? That would be me. I make a cocoon with it and then when EA comes to bed he has to rip it off me. Plus I'm a very violent sleeper, so the quilt isn't really where it should be in its cover. So some nights I am peacefully sleeping until EA has to shake out the quilt so that he isn't covered only by two layers of cotton. Another of my many lovable quirks...

Who wakes up earlier? Ha! Me. He sleeps from about 2am until 8am. I'm more 9pm until 5am. He calls himself a sleep camel - he replenishes on the weekends.

Where was your first date? Pane e Vino in Brisbane. We have been there a few times since, too. Had he not proposed at Girraween last year, I thought he might have done it here. Nice pasta.

Who is more jealous? We don't really get jealous at all, which is lovely. If it came down to it, though, I probably have had more little jealous niggles over the years...

How long did it take to get serious? We moved in together after 9 months.

Who eats more? Him. Especially now that I'm on my super healthy eating plan.

Who does the laundry? I probably sort the clothes and put loads of washing on more, but he hangs things out more. Aww, sharing is caring, right?

Who is better with the computer? Him. Given that he works in IT, that's to be expected... It also means that he constantly has people on the phone asking him computer-related questions. I also get very grumpy when things don't work properly in our house, be it his fault or not.

Who drives when you are together? Him. He loves to drive. Me, not so much. I like it when we drive around together.

You guys look very cute together!

I am very impatient as well..I haven't got my first real job and I am grumbling about not being able to save up for a house deposit.

My bf is more 'common-sense' smarter than me as well...and he's better at IT.

I hope you are having loads of fun planning your wedding!

Polly - Edge is at Ferny Hills, on Ferny Way quite close to Ferny Grove train station. It has only been there about 6 months - we can walk there from our house. They serve all sorts of things, the mains range from $20 to $40-ish I think, and the drinks are reasonably priced. They have fish, chicken, steak, pasta and risotto dishes amongst others, and they even have escargot! The service is really good though, the managers are just really lovely.
