10 minute tidy...

I mentioned in my previous post that I have been keeping our house very tidy over the last few weeks. I'm attributing that to my new approach when it comes to housework - the 10 Minute Tidy.

Rather than doing all of my housework in one evening or taking a full day on the weekend, I'm just doing 10 minutes a day. One night it might mean emptying the bins, sorting a shelf in the bathroom and tidying my desk. The next night it could be making sure all dishes are washed and unpacked, putting on a load of washing and folding clothes. Whatever it is, I only do it for 10 minutes, or until the small chores are done.

This approach is really working miracles. I can honestly say that right now in our house there really isn't much to be done. In just 10 minutes each night, I'm keeping on top of any little messes that I make around the house. OK, so we need to mop, but when you're in a house that is 100% wooden floors, that ain't gonna happen in 10 minutes. So that's a job for a Saturday...

There is nothing like going to bed at night knowing that you have a tidy house. There is nothing like watching TV without that guilt in the back of your mind that you should be cleaning the bathroom. Life has just been stress-free at home recently, and I can thank our tidy house for that.

Do you take any special approaches to household duties?

I have a similar approach - I can't stand spending a whole day cleaning, so I do bits at a time. Unless of course it's a big spring clean with window washing and everything involved!
