Wedding update...

It's been a little while since I updated you all on our wedding plans. With only 9.5 months to go, it's all starting - I'm actually wondering when we're going to get everything done! Luckily EA is interested in the whole process and has been so helpful. Sometimes he calls me 'Zilla, but I don't really think he means it because I actually think that I'm remaining very calm about things.

I'll try to break it down:

Venue

Our ceremony and reception is to be held at Glengariff Historic Estate, Mt Mee. My sister and I went out there a couple of weekends ago - she hadn't seen inside yet and I wanted to refresh my memory so that we could think about a theme and colours. It was such a gorgeous day, the couple to be married later that day would have been so pleased with the weather:

The sun sets in June towards the right of this photo, so it should be lovely enjoying drinks and canapes as the sun sets in the background before moving inside for the sit down dinner.

Size

We currently have 108 people on the guest list, though this may change between now and the end of the year. We have to pay for at least 85 given we're holding the wedding on the Sunday of a long weekend, and with people not being available to attend I think this is more likely to be the number we'll expect.

Celebrant

We have booked a lady who is the sister-in-law of a woman I used to work with. She is so lovely and has similar ideas on the style of ceremony we want - no fancy sand rituals, just a simple, reasonable-length ceremony.

Hair/Makeup

I've booked Donna Sullivan to do my hair an makeup, but won't have a trial probably until about March or April next year when it's a little closer to the date and I've bought a dress. Have a look at her website, she's fantastic. It was very easy to find her, because she is married to EA's cousin, so there wasn't too much research involved. She's had raves about her on the Vogue forums, so I was fairly confident with my choice.

I'm still not sure what I will do with my hair given I don't have the dress to style it alongside, but I do think that it will be up and curly. I have very curly hair and so I want to be married looking like me.

As an aside, this was my hair the other day after using Bumble & Bumble Thickening Spray. I was on the phone to EA at the time and wanted to SMS him a photo of my hair being HUGE.

My hair really is getting too long. Time for a cut, it's ridiculous. I need to figure out what to do regarding colour as well. Any ideas people?

Photography

In October last year I contacted Beth Carter Photography about shooting our wedding however she wasn't available. It got to a month ago and we were having a lot of difficulty finding a photographer whose style we liked. I decided that I would just drop Beth a very quick line and see if her availability had changed - also our budget had changed as we decided to spend some more given photos really are all you have after your wedding. Luckily for us, she was free and she is now booked!!!

We're so stoked, she's absolutely amazing. I highly recommend you look at her blog also. As EA commented, she knows light. It's all natural, not too posty, and I think that we'll be able to enjoy our day knowing that there are beautiful photos being taken. I don't want to spend half of my day posing for photos.

Dress

No frickin' idea. Until I've lost some more weight I don't even have a desire to try on a dress. I've put up some ideas on this blog in the past, and I'll continue to do so, but because EA reads this blog I won't be able to post up my final choice.

Theme

Our engagement party had a navy/silver theme and we're thinking of continuing that on for the wedding. Either that or charcoal, but I think the blue will be the final choice. EA wants to wear black or charcoal, and being a winter wedding we'd probably like something a bit darker for my little sis (the only bridesmaid) to wear.

Music

We're probably going to book some musicians from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Their Performers Agency provides many combinations of musicians. We're thinking that the most appropriate for the venue and also for our tastes is some sort of jazz trio or a pianist to play some light jazz for canapes and dinner music. Then we will provide our own music for the dancing near the end. Our discussions so far on song choices are a whole other blog post.

That's about all we've thought about, though there are so many little things that we'll have to think about in due course. Like a substitute for a guest book (I'm not a fan), will we have a flower girl and page boy, table settings (they are provided but we might want to add extra touches).

I have a bit more exciting news about this wedding process however I'll wait until later in the week to talk about that.

How exciting!! Sounds like it's all coming together nicely, and that's so good that EA is getting involved too. I especially love the venue that you've chosen.

You've made me want to start planning my own wedding now, and I'm nowhere near engaged xxx
