Big news, kids.
I DID IT!
Well, not quite, but so close! Average speed 9.94km/hr.
The run tonight was absolute hell. I pushed too hard, but now that I've done it, it will only get easier, right? My goal was to be able to run 5km by 31 October. Well, I can do that. I don't remember whether I wanted to be doing it in 30 minutes by 31 October, but I can do that, too. So my new goal is to be able to do it with relative ease. Sound good? Good.
I should probably also put in writing my next goal, which will be to run 10km in under 1 hr 10 mins. I'm not sure when - I'll have to find a fun run next year when I'm not in Europe (thanks, Gold Coast Marathon). It will give me something else to train for. I must say I think that goal will be hard to reach because I get quite bored running for too long, but it's important that I continue to set goals for myself to keep me motivated. Of course, the weight loss is fantastic motivation but hopefully I won't be trying to lose weight forever!!!
I hope all of you who are also trying to lose weight are having a successful week! I have lost over a kilo this week so far - the exercise and sensible diet is really, really working.

Woo hoo! Go girl, very inspirational, especially since I'm a non-runner. Maybe I should start?
Look after yourself with all this running, lots of stretching etc.
What about Bridge to Brisbane next year? It is a good while away though...
xx Polly
Congratulations! Your running progress really is inspiring for me... I wish I could run 5km!
Thank you girls!
Mrs W - you'd be surprised, I never thought I would be able to either, despite being a cross country runner at school.
