Fitness frenzy...

I'm so proud of myself.

I am really good at justifying not doing things. If I really don't want to do something, then you can be sure I'll find some sort of good excuse to get myself out of it.

For this reason, I never thought that I would stick to my healthy eating and exercise plan. It's rather sad that I went into it not believing that I would be able to see it through. I'm happy to report, however, that this week has been a huge success. Yay!

As far as my diet was concerned, I haven't really kept track of everything that I ate, however I've really been watching what I put into my mouth. I've stayed away from carbs where possible (though I couldn't resist the hot cross bun this morning - the only good thing about Easter goodies being available in January) and I've reduced the amount that I've been eating. I've certainly not been starving myself, but rather eating portions appropriate for my size. I've also saved a great deal of money by not eating out all of the time.

It's the exercise that I'm so happy about. This gym business is awesome, who would have thought I'd be enjoying it so much. I've mastered the treadmill - I can even run on the thing now, which is super cool. I ran 800m last night and between 1.5km and 2km tonight in between my 4 - 7 km walking workouts (didn't keep track). I know, that's not much, but baby steps, people. I think I had 2 days off throughout the week, one day because I was starting to get really sore and thought I'd better rest before I injured myself, and the second because I just didn't have the time.

Since joining the gym, I've lost 1.8kg. When I think about it, I could have lost a lot more. When I leave each day I still feel as though I could have kept going, pushed harder. No sense in overdoing it though I guess...

Anyway, that's my fitness update. I had planned on Monday being weigh-in day, but given Saturday is my best blogging day, I'll make the change. My goal for this coming week is to lose another 1.5kg or more, plus to conquer my fear of the elliptical thingy and the weight machines. Even if I try out one, it will be a win...

Good for you, Jodi! It was really hard for me at first at the gym but now I love it.

Have you thought about a personal trainer if you're really serious about the gym? It can cost a bit but I think there's no price too expensive for your health.

I have considered it, yes. When we signed up a week ago we were offered 3 sessions for $10 total and I said no. I'm such a loser. I'm just petrified that they'll work me so hard that I'm put off going back - I like to have control over what I do and when I stop!

I think I'll look at trying at least one session once I'm a little bit fitter.

I am so ashamed of myself. I have joined a gym for nearly 9 months and i have only been like...15 times. LOL!

Good luck with your training!!!

Yay - good on you! I'm loving exercise at the moment to. It makes me feel so much better about myself.

Ps. You are going to love the elliptical! I love it more than the treadmill.

Miss W - today was going to be my rest day, but your love of the elliptical has convinced me that I want to go again. Yay!

Hey There, thank you so much for that (google reader) I am enjoying it most definitely - just have to start following now!

Congrats on your weight loss - I'm trying to get my butt into gear and like you, i have a million reasons to justify things ( such as my unhealthy eating out moments) But you should be proud! Gym eand eating healthy is hard to get use to but once you do it, it comes natually and you feel so much better for it!
